Intro
Many
of our friends have recommended this restaurant
as their favorite and we have gone at least once
a summer. To sit out on the patio on a balmy summer
evening is indeed special. We tried this restaurant
early in May on a Monday night. It was hopping
with laughter and chatter. The menu is based on
four different American locales: Northern Pacific,
South Western, Southern and New England. You can
mix and match as you wish. The portions are large
and attractive. What we sampled was average, good,
American fare.
Ambiance |
There
is a festive party atmosphere to this restaurant
that is contagious. Everyone seems to be having
a great time. Inside the restaurant you find low
ceilings, dark wood, and a cozy feeling. The noise
level can be very high and it may be difficult to
hear your companions. Luckily we were seated at
a table for four, at the edge of the room, and were
able to sit at adjoining seats, but this restaurant
might not be the best choice for a visit with old
friends.
Food |
The
tomato bisque was good, but not as hot as it might
have been. The entrees of roast duck and salmon
were generous servings, but average. The menu reflects
the basic dishes found everywhere on the island,
such as roast pork, chicken, and shrimp. The lemon
dessert was a hit and the sorbet, a favorite in
this family topped off the meal in a strong finish.
Other Observations:
We have
tried this restaurant on a number of occasions
and not found it to be quite in the "all
star" category that some of our friends do.
Since the prices are comparable to many favorite
restaurants, we would love to hear from you to
see how you rank it.
