Intro
Dining
on the patio on a warm summer's evening is a wonderful
way to experience and is one of the
great charms of American Seasons. This restaurant
fronts on a quiet street, a short distance from
Main Street and nestled among many popular bed
and breakfast inns. The menu is based on four
different American locales: Northern Pacific,
South Western, Southern and New England. You can
mix and match as you wish. The portions are generous
and attractive. We have dined here every year
and on this visit we especially enjoyed the outdoor
patio setting.
Ambiance |
The
patio is our favorite dining area at American Seasons
and we recommend it when the weather permits. It
is lively, but not loud, providing a relaxed atmosphere.
Small tables are scattered about, each with a large
white candle, flowers tumble over the garden walls,
and the mood is festive. Inside, the main dining
room is wood paneled with low ceiling, wooden tables
and large painted murals which create a very interesting
atmosphere.
Food |
Pacific
Coast, Wild West, New England, and Down South created
an unusual combination of regional choices: halibut,
beef, tuna, pork, catfish, to name a few, each prepared
by the chef with vegetables and sauces from that
region. Our group of four sampled squash soup, scallops,
eggrolls and tomato bisque for first courses. The
scallops and the egg roll were the most popular.
Short ribs, salmon, shrimp, and halibut were our
entrees. The halibut served with mussels and swiss
chard was voted the best by our group. Desserts
included creme brulee, citrus sorbet and blockhead,
an ice cream combination for those who like really
hearty finishes to the dinner.
Other Observations:
We were
joined by another couple providing additional
evaluation of the dining experience. The warm
summer July evening we chose was a perfect time
to eat on the patio. We carefully evaluated each
course, the service, and the ambiance. The casual
patio was delightful, but the food and service
was "average" and similar to our previous
year's evaluation. We encourage others to send
us their comments after visiting American Seasons
this summer for posting on the web site.
