Black Angus Grille - 17 Old South Road, , MA 02554 (508) 228-9852

Intro
The Black Angus is slightly out of town with ample parking, in contrast to the intown congestion. The newly comleted patio is a pleasant addition. The interior of the steak house is most attractive, with warm dark green walls, white partial partitions separating areas of the dining room, and a small bar nestled near the side entrance. Steak dominates the menu, at least four varieties are offered along with traditional selections of chicken, fish, and pork. This spot is ideal for parties of ten or more for which the management will make special arrangements, setting the group apart from the main section of the diningroom.

Ambiance
In our late May visit the hostess described the new nearly completed patio addition, a perfect opportuntity to enjoy dining alfresco. The interior of Black Angus is wonderful. The large space is separated by waist high partitions, providing privacy, but preserving a view of the entire room. The contrast between forest green and white colors create an elegant feeling not often found in steak houses. The staff is friendly and helpful, but were not tested for the crowds of the summer ahead.

Food
We began with the mixed greens and lump crabmeat salad. The mixed greens were ordinary, something that should have been crisp and fresh, but the crabmeat very good.
A special of the evening ,ribeye steak for two, was our choice, for which we ordered side courses of garlic spinach and asparagus with olive oil and parmesan. The steak was good. The vegetables were excellent. For dessert we selected a six layer chocolate cake and cheesecake with raspberry sauce. As with the dinner, these were good, but not exceptional.

Other Observations:
This is the spot to try when you want to avoid the congestion of downtown. A family party or celebration is ideal here; call ahead and plan with the hostess for that special occasion. The decor, inside and out, offers a relaxing setting to enjoy an outing on the island. We would love to hear your impressions of The Black Angus on a crowded summer evening.
