 Intro
This
charming restaurant is located in the basement
of the small Inn with several guest rooms on the
second and third floor. It is located a short
stroll up Fair Street from upper Main Street.
We have come here for years and each year find
it to be delightful. The food is excellent, the
service most attentive, and the dining experience
well worth discovering.

In
last year's review we described the main dining
room with white bricked fireplace, white linen covered
tables and charming windows set high on the side.
This year we were seated in the back room which
accomodates slightly larger groups. Our table of
five loved the room from which we could observe
the small, charming bar. One large window offers
a view of plants cleverly planted outside to provide
a garden atmosphere. Paintings adorn the walls and
the setting invites you to relax and enjoy the evening
ahead.

With
our group of five we were able to sample and enjoy
a number of choices. The wild mushroom soup was
outstanding! The caesar salad and crab cakes were
also given high marks. Of the five dinners sampled,
Chatham sea scallops, tournedos of salmon and the
night's special, striped bass, received glowing
comments. A special watermelon souffle ordered,
at the beginning of the meal, was served with flair.
Chocolate cake, creme brulee, and blueberry cheesecake
provided additional delights for a great finish.
Other Observations:
Greyladygourmet
most often travels as a twosome. This night while
young husbands babysat, we took our three daughters
"out on the town." It was difficult
to decide where we should take them on "their
one night out". They hadn't been to Ship's
Inn in many years, and never in this dining room.
We had a perfect evening with excellent service.
For all of us that evening was a highlight of
a week on . This restaurant is also ideal
for a twosome. Newly weds recently wrote to us
about their wonderful dinner here last Fall; a
special celebration made perfect by the staff.
You won't be disappointed with Ship's Inn.
