The Pearl SignIntro
The Pearl is a relative newcomer on the restaurant scene. Located over the popular long-time restaurant, The Boarding House, an interesting connection is that the head chef oversees both. The Pearl is very different in atmosphere and decor from The Boarding House and most other restaurants. Modern, with soft, white leather chairs and sofas, white blinds, a large fish tank with white coral and subdued lighting, The Pearl provides a contrast to other restaurants we have known. It is one of the most expensive restaurants on the island and the food is superb..The Pearl Restaurant

Ambiance
The Pearl is a very modern, sophisticated, and somewhat formal restaurant. It has two dining areas that are separated by a wall and the large fish tank also seen from the entrance. One outdoor table on the deck appears ideal for a private party of eight or ten. The bar, to the right of the entrance seemed a little noisy, however, once seated in the larger dining area, we were able to converse easily. The Pearl has a cosmopolitan air unusual for .

Food
AThe Pearl offered many tempting appetizers and entrees. The Asian culinary influence with many choices of intriguing fish dishes is welcome. Some restaurants in late Spring offer only one or two seafood choices. Not so at the Pearl with approximately three quarters of the entrees obtained from the sea. While sipping drinks before dinner, we were surprised by two tempting, delicate, lobster spring rolls sent by the Chef. An excellent spring soup and a plate of mussels followed. Not seen on any other menu was the Arctic Char created in a masterful arrangement of vegetables and crisp onion. The soft shell crab was excellent. Not enough praise can be given the menu; it was truly five star. .

Other Observations:
For those who enjoy sophistication and modern decor, this is a perfect choice. For those who don't' mind top prices, they will find the food unsurpassed. The Pearl is a real addition to the scene.
