2003
Fall Leaves whirl in chilly winds, winter
is upon us and Greyladygourmet is ending its third
season. We continue to enjoy visiting restaurants,
some new and not previously reviewed, and others
old friends. Every year we observe various changes
which we describe. The reviews, reflecting our
particular experiences at the time of our visit,
might be different another day but because of the
number of restaurants on the island, we cannot
routinely make revisits during the season. We encourage
our readers to send in their own evaluations. In
general, we find that most agree with our impressions
and appreciate the reviews. When asked to review
a particular restaurant not previously or recently
visited, we do so whenever possible.
Special Prix Fixe This Fall
This fall we were particularly impressed by the
special three or four course fixed price dinners
which a number of restaurants have offered.
We do not remember so many in past years and
wonder if this may reflect the current economy.
In any case, for those planning a fall trip
to the island, these are marvelous opportunities
and we urge patrons to look at our fall reviews
(Le Languedoc and The Club Car). West Creek
Cafe, a long time favorite of ours, has a nightly
three course prix fixe dinner for $25; they
are closed on Tuesdays. Centre Street Bistro
has a 3 course dinner Wednesday for $24 and
The Woodbox has a $34 special dinner on Thursdays;
both were reviewed this year.
Christmas Stroll
Reservations are important for visits
over this delightful and popular week-end, Dec.
5th-7th. Of the restaurants we have reviewed, the
following will be open according to our information,
but call ... now.
Happy
Holidays Travelers! See you in 2004!
